Over the past few years I’ve wondered what makes the Pee Dee such a special place. As I photographed different people it became apparent that people we see every day make it so special. People who love what they do and quietly contribute to the quality of life here. Each face has a story.
As I talked with the people I photographed, it became apparent that many were strengthened by adversity. Their strong character and courage were developed by the disappointments and difficulties they faced. I can’t say this kind of courage is unique to the Pee Dee, but it certainly is prevalent here. Some were strengthened by their faith. Others were strengthened in different ways. I’ve learned something about life from each one.
