He is extremely independent and became depressed when he realized he couldn’t do everything himself and work 12 to 16 hours a day farming.
During his recovery period he says God came to him and he realized that his priorities were wrong. Tommy had put the farm first and his family second. He began to put God first and his relationship with his family improved. Since then, he enjoys a special relationship with God. Because of his renewed faith, he is closer to his lovely wife, sons and grandson.
Tommy says that God will get our attention one way or the other. He now considers the loss of his leg a blessing. He is closer to his family and enjoys a healthier and happier life because he trusts God and isn’t so stressed about the farm.
